About This Design: The unique and memorable look of this ring's inlay is, as the name implies, the result of a technique called Mokume Gane. Translating roughly to "wood grain metal" from the Japanese, Mokume Gane is a method for permanently bonding layers of contrasting metals together to create unmatched patterns and designs. For this ring we mixed together copper and sterling silver, both for the colorful contrasts and because copper was a favorite metal of the master smiths who pioneered this technique centuries ago.
