Damascus steel, on the other hand, is more of a blanket title for a type of metal production that was first developed in the 4th century BC. While Damascus steel posses many properties similar to titanium, in appearance it features interesting patterns that resemble ripples of water or the grain of wood. These patterns, revealed though acid etching, represent a blend of steels and impurities used to make the finished steel.
