Green Gold and Silver Mokume Ring
- Mokume Gane
- Made in USA:
Forceful, superior, different. This Green Gold and Silver Mokume Ring is the ultimate example of what happens when the best in tradition meets an edge that pushes the envelope of fashion. One of the only pieces of Mokume jewelry of its kind, this is a classic titanium ring that fuses ancient Japanese metalworking with custom crafted alloys. The inlay is a rare mix of green gold and sterling silver that has been forged and twisted together into wood grain-like patterns that swirl around the band. The greenish-yellow of the gold gives off a not-quite-gray cast that contrasts perfectly with the brilliance of the sterling silver. It's a subtle difference on these Mokume rings that will do anything but fade into the background. The solid titanium construction is contemporary yet comfortable and provides extra protection for the metals in the inlay! If you're ready for Mokume jewelry that no one else has and that's going to change the way you look at rings, then you're ready to select a size for the ring we'll make for you! All standard sizes between 4 and 12.5 are available. Also select from a 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, or 9mm width, and choose from a brushed or polished finish. Mokume Ring shown here in the popular 7mm width with a brushed finish. Personalize your ring! We will engrave up to 25 characters of text on the inside of the band at no charge. Simply type in the inscription you wish to see in the appropriate field, and we'll take care of the rest. About This Design:
What makes our Mokume jewelry so unique? The process used to create the attractive striations in the inlay was first discovered in the 1600s by a metal smith living in feudal Japan. Originally used to fashion decorative inlays and sword fittings on weapons for the ruling Samurai class, Mokume Gane, as it became known, was a technique practiced by only the most skilled craftsmen. Meaning "wood grain metal" in English, Mokume Gane is a highly artistic form of metalworking that is exciting but challenging to master. It cannot be mass produced and even today its relative difficulty calls only the most skilled to attempt it. At Titanium-Buzz, we work with some of the leading artisans in the industry to create our Mokume Rings. These are masters who have bested the challenges of the Mokume Gane process and have taken it to the next level. They dare to employ unusual mixes of alloys, like the twists of sterling silver and green gold featured here, to create new looks and styles that are blazing a new path to the future. The Japanese masters who pioneered Mokume Gane centuries ago would be proud. Want to try a new twist on a style that's even more ancient? As in, several billion years?
