Timeless Style Direct From the Mediterranean.
Welcome to one of our all-time favorite burl wood wedding rings. Also known as citron wood and thyine wood, thuya wood has been prized as far back as ancient Greece and Rome. The ornamental qualities of thuya burl's beautiful, irregular swirls and rich luster have been captivating admirers for as long as people have been making objects d'art from pieces of wood.
The base of the Titanium and Thuya Burl Wood Ring is forged into a contemporary, 8mm-wide flat profile band with slightly raised sidewalls to provide added protection for the inlay. The narrow edges and sides of the ring are brilliantly polished to celebrate the way they contrast with the thuya burl in the center. The wide, continuous inlay puts the swirling hues and darker burl eyes of this unique wood on full display.
As one of our most unique wood inlayed rings, this style is the perfect pick for wearers who want to let the wood do the talking. Unlike many of our other wooden wedding bands, this style features a thinner titanium outlay that has been styled with a low-profile look in order to beautifully showcase the thuya wood within. This gives the ring a rustic, down-to-earth quality with the added strength and performance of titanium.
All of our men's titanium and wood bands are designed and built right here in the U.S. by the Titanium-Buzz team. Coupled with the fact that no two pieces of thuya wood are exactly alike, you can be sure your band is a complete one-of-a-kind when you order from us.
Like all the titanium and brown wood inlay rings we produce, this silver color wedding band is made to order and is available in most whole or half sizes. We can also do 1/4 and custom sizes upon request. Optional personalized engraving is available on the inside of the band, while ground shipping of this item is free to anywhere in the USA.
About This Design
Indigenous to parts of North Africa and Southwestern Europe, thuya burls come from the Sictus tree, a rare type of evergreen found near the Mediterranean. Regular Sictus wood has little value, but the thuya burls sometimes found at the root of these trees can be used to create spectacular luxury items like this ring. Thuya burl, which has a strong cedar smell, was once considered sacred, and the aromatic wood was sometimes burned as an offering to the gods. The word thuya, in fact, is likely derived from the Greek word for sacrifice (θυσία).
Thuya's uses today are more aesthetic than religious, but it's easy to see the allure and power this unique wood has held for centuries. And, while it's unlikely any of our customers will still be around centuries from now (though anything is possible), we are committed to ensuring that you enjoy your ring for a lifetime. That's why we've added a special seamless laminate to protect the inlay from moisture and environmental damage.
